Convert images to WebP

Turn JPG, PNG and HEIC into WebP — 25–35% smaller files supported by every modern browser. Batch conversion, no limits.

Pixels stay 100% identical — only hidden data is removed: GPS location, camera and serial number, dates, software, comments, XMP/IPTC. Each cleaned file is scanned again to confirm.

    Why convert images to WebP?

WebP gives you smaller files than JPG and PNG at the same quality, supports transparency and is supported by Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge. Google PageSpeed recommends it as a “next-gen format”, so converting your images is one of the fastest ways to improve page speed and Core Web Vitals.

SafeShrink uses Google's official libwebp encoder compiled to WebAssembly, running locally in your browser.

    Why SafeShrink

Everything photographers, stores and agencies need

Free online tools limit the number and size of files because they process every image on their servers. We moved all the work into your browser — that's why there are no limits.

    No limits

Hundreds or thousands of photos at once, files of 50 MB and more. Drop a whole shoot folder — subfolders are preserved.

    Total privacy

Nothing is uploaded. We also strip EXIF metadata — including GPS location, camera serial number and date.

    Auto mode

Each image is encoded in several formats and you get the smallest file. No guessing, no manual testing.

    Target file size

Need images under 200 KB? Enter the limit and the algorithm finds the highest possible quality.

    iPhone photos (HEIC)

Convert HEIC photos from your iPhone to JPG or WebP in bulk — right in the browser, without installing anything.

    E-commerce tools

Square product photos on a white background, text or logo watermarks, and SEO-friendly file names in one pass.

    srcset variants

One click generates 480/960/1440 px versions plus ready <img srcset> code. Great for Core Web Vitals.

    Works offline

In Chrome or Edge you can install SafeShrink as an app for free. After the first visit it works without internet — on a train or a plane.

    Drop your images

Files, folders or an image from the clipboard. Your browser reads them locally.

    2

    Compressed on your CPU

WebAssembly codecs run in parallel on several CPU cores — the page stays smooth.

    FAQ

    Frequently asked questions

    Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. All compression happens in your browser, on your own processor. Only public codecs (program code) are downloaded from the internet — never your files. You can verify it in your browser's developer tools (Network tab) or simply disconnect from the internet after the page loads.

Is there really no limit on the number or size of files?

Yes. The only limit is your computer's memory (RAM). In practice you can process several hundred camera photos in one go without any problem.

Which format should I choose: JPG, WebP or AVIF?

For websites, WebP is the best choice (great compression, supported everywhere), or AVIF (even smaller files, slower encoding). JPG is the safest choice for print, email or older systems. If you're not sure, choose Auto.

    How does PNG compression work?

We use the same technique as well-known PNG optimizers: we reduce the number of colors to at most 256 (quantization with dithering) and then optimize the file with OxiPNG. Transparency is preserved. At quality 100, PNG compression is fully lossless.

Can I convert iPhone HEIC photos?

Yes. Drop HEIC/HEIF files just like any other image — they are decoded in your browser and saved as JPG (or WebP/AVIF if you choose). Nothing is uploaded.

    Does compression remove metadata?

Yes — in compression mode EXIF, GPS location, camera data and thumbnails are always removed. If you want to remove metadata without re-compressing, switch the tool to Remove metadata: pixels stay 100% identical.

    Can I use SafeShrink commercially?

Of course. Processed images belong to you — we don't add watermarks (unless you want one) and we don't collect files. Just make sure you have the rights to the images you process.

    Are my original files changed?

Never. SafeShrink always creates new copies — your originals stay exactly as they were.

How do I remove GPS location from photos without losing quality?

Switch the tool to Remove metadata and drop your photos. SafeShrink removes EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC and comments directly from the file structure without re-encoding the image, so the quality is exactly the same. It works with JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, HEIC and AVIF, and every cleaned file is scanned again to confirm nothing is left.
